‘Our country has some great robbers,’ Hnat says. Sometimes he uses the word ‘criminals.’
All that sounds very funny when that is targeted at some adult. I have to explain that all this is happening in the context of the recent reports from the National Anti Corruption bureau of Ukraine.
Meanwhile he says they steal children’s toys.
Well, of course not literally, but that is quite true. Also, they steal from the military. While the country is at war. Also, they send money to Moscow (that was revealed a year ago), where the enemy is located.
How they’re not just behind the bars for the high treason is beyond me. It’s surprising they’re literally alive. Hard to imagine what a democracy with the rule of law I currently live in. (I’m not even sure whether that’s sarcasm or not.)
Today is the flag day of Ukraine. And tomorrow is the (not really real yet) Independence Day on Ukraine. Legal independence. The real one would come when the war is won. And the war won’t be lost, because if we’d lose, we’d die, and so we’d never lose then.
We watched Harry Potter (the very first one) today, where Hermione said something like: ‘we could have died, or worse! We could have been expelled from the school!’
It feels very same with the war. We could die because of them (the president’s friends) stealing money off us all! Or even worse! We could lose the war!
