On a whim, I took off —
Lviv, no pause, no plan.
They say, being me
Is a life people want.
Found a flat in a posh
Little slice of the map,
Free, successful designer —
That’s fact, not a flaunt.
Lentils, rice, and maccheroni.
Morning runs clear my head,
And keep me in shape.
The city still sleeps,
While I’m out of bed.
The days just slip by
And work fills my life.
Days pass all the same,
But that is the game.
Saturday night,
Mike and I reappear.
Fancy T-shirts galore,
Much more than I wear.
Lentils, rice, and maccheroni.
Stacks of various books.
Read half-asleep,
Somehow taken inside.
Here I live this efficient life.
So, there’s room for— Auchan.
Before day turns to night.
Here I live…
Most efficient life!
And the wisest of choices I make: Lentils, rice, and maccheroni.
A little piece from 2014, translated to English to stay preserved in the eternity. Nadzeja wrote the original, I adapted it the best I could.
Hnat helped me with not letting me sleep. Nadiia did her best to contribute to everyone not sleeping. Solomia tried to read us Pettson and Findus meanwhile.
I just stumbled upon the original poem by working through my old notes. And wanted to keep it alive, not slipping the original (language censure, so I censor).
There was some wisdom in it, as the poetry does.
