I’m making another attempt at exploring LinkedIn. After so many years, it feels like there’s some activity, eventually. It feels like there was only a tumbleweed for over a decade. Then I missed some years, opening the website, and it’s a boasting gathering all over the place.
Due to my background of living in different countries for over a decade, and working with different companies, I have different people to contemplate. As I’m living in a warring country these days, I found it’s fascinating to see three groups of people in my newsfeed:
English-speakers, either natives, or most people from Belarus’20 refugees. Usual super-boring mediocre self-PR stuff.
No blame on anyone, it’s the architectural design flaw of this website, plus Microsoft being behind it.
Ukrainians. I’m impressed by this community, as I saw a strong unity of the people. I see mostly the extension of other socials: charities (for drones, helping warriors, etc.) It’s the most impressive community to me. It’s a shame others choose to ignore the war.
Yeah, I know, the American ‘friends’ tend to shadow-ban for ‘Help Ukraine’ posts, we have at least one Instagram account with thousands of followers that is vastly unpopular now. Solely because of ‘Help Ukraine’ mostly neutral post, without ‘slaughter all fucking barbarians’ stuff. Thanks, Zuck, thank you very much indeed. A clear demonstration of your side.
Russians (Russian-speaking community). To me, that’s the most hilarious one. Recently, I saw some post which was: ‘hey, Cyprus is a fantastic place to work! There are countless of jobs for people who speak [only] Russian! You don’t have to learn any [new] language!’
Fuck, I cannot even comment on that properly. Such idiocy. These barbarians occupy other countries, genocide them, just to populate them with russians, so they won’t have any need to learn anything new in their lives. Fucking savages.
