Are you a loser or a winner?
Garry the winner Wishman! Rise and shine!
— A quote from Eddie’s Life Coach.
How do you perceive yourself?
I do not. I’m neither. It looks like this question does not allow this kind of reply, just stepping off the question, and never answering it.
But it feels like it. The life is so much more complicated than a binary label losers and winners alike love to slap on themselves, and others too.
I see life as a series of events, and there are fails, there are climbs. But since the life is at least three-dimensional thing, there’s no such a thing as a sine (or cosine) curve, as even without going into three dimensional space, you can make your wins losses and vice versa. When you think of it as a curve, what if you’ll change the perspective? It’s not that simple, life.
As of winners and losers mentality. I got the following thought. If you pay close attention, there are so many events, so many activities, we engage with, but if we’re not thinking (or over-thinking) them, we may never realise we’re pretty bad (or good) at something. We just do. Because we might like that, the process. The result might be horribly sad, but if we like doing, it might get much better at some point in life.
I guess the real piece of wisdom is to stop categorising some things or events, and see them as they are, in a non-judgemental way. That helps not being dragged by some irreverent distraction.
I can recall a great amount of things I was terrible at. Yet, I was doing it, being focused on the process instead. I may be terrible at it now, but at least I can compare things to my former self, and see this tremendous progress too.
Successes aren’t like that, they give some emotional excitement, but they might not teach us to actually love the process. We tend to love the result, since it’s exciting.
I’m becoming an Eeyore, am I not? Perhaps not. Perhaps a wise owl it is.
