I do screenshots pretty often, since my early days of computing. They don’t survive to new computers or systems. However, they’re the main way of storing memories about these ‘sitting in front of my display’ ages.
I’ve stumbled upon some useless screenshots from SAM.gov system, the ones I’ve been sending to my late colleague. I have just one photo with him, well maybe two or three, if I’ll search thoroughly. Yet, I have a number of screenshots I shared with him.
I’ve been walking through my Screenshots directory, and cleaning them. Got this thought, in a way these are the snapshots of my interactions with him. Removing them, I’m removing these tiny memory anchors.
That’s not an excuse to keep them, also we need to remove these tiny memory anchors too.
Yet, it was unusual. A usual boring screenshot of sam.gov website interface that reminds me of a now-gone person.
