I had been saying this many times before, but this time it feels like I may be correct, eventually!
I’m really excited about that.
It feels like I’ve finalised my knowledge management system, which is by the way my blogging system too.
My blogging is mostly for me managing my knowledge.
The difference is only with the access policy: there are public notes and there are private ones.
- Private notes are nothing special, they are mostly short notes on different boring topics.
- Plus some todo system too.
My todo is just plain text notes. Akin to org-mode, but I gave up on that, unfortunately. I use markdown, plus I render my notes to websites.
That’s it.
The only difference, basically this rendering element. Since I render the notes to websites, there’s no point in keeping them as notes! And so, my notes are automatically transferred to my websites, after some delay. If I didn’t touch the note for a day or two or a week (depending on the website), they’re gone.
Of course, I can edit them as my sites, from my laptop. I can setup the iPhone for full-blown editing too, but I don’t want to. That’s the point, the iPhone is only for inbox.
This system is super useful, and I’m so happy about it, it’s really difficult to get asleep! After the kids got asleep, I took a couple of hours to setup my server, thus disappearing part. It’s truly magical!
The disappearing part is just the centrepiece of this idea, and it makes me believe that I’m not going to change this system ever again. I might improve it over time, that’s for sure. But the basic logic of throwing away everything I need no longer, it creates truly unique product.
Maybe, one day that would become a commercial product from me, who knows.
I’m going to write this story in great many details once I’m settled with this project more or so.
The only complex thing is that to sort the note, I need to place it into some special directory for script to process it. And that’s the only complex thing to do, to make that decision. Since all my website projects are pretty logical to me, there’s no difficulty in that.
