2nd Run

Today, I wanted to run after I brought Hnat to his Kdg, but before I picked up Nadia to her therapist. I had a 20 minutes window, which was enough to run quickly, but since I wanted to update music on my iPod, I missed that opportunity.

While Nadia was at her therapist’s, I had a 40 minutes window.

Since the terapist is in our apartment complex.

Which was plenty for not just a run, and also for having a shower too. Again, I missed that opportunity. I had to find some music, and to upload it onto my iPod Touch. Technically, I could run with another device, my older iPhone SE, or my newer iPhone 12 mini, both are small. But iPod Touch is just so much thinner, lighter, and I need to rationalise its existence. Plus, I have a running bag for it. While theoretically I can fit an SE there too, there’s no chance my iPhone 12 mini would fit.

Software

iPod is only 32 GB, but since it’s almost empty, I can fill it with music entirely. I’d prefer having an offline library rather than Spotify-like online streaming app. Most of my run is in the forest, and the coverage isn’t good there.

So I needed to download some music from the internet (which is pretty fast, especially when you want to download just an album or two), then I needed to upload it to iPod. Which is very quirky, considering I’m on Linux exclusively. I have no device with both Windows and macOS at home. And around too.

Previously, I used foobar2000 as a music player + Nike Running Club. Both are obsolete.

Turned out, that for some weird reason, I cannot mount foobar2000 on my MacBook Pro with Arch Linux. So I used VLC for that.

VLC is pretty good for both video and audio, and I was happy to learn that it’s the only one piece of software that still supported and is frequently updated on iOS 9, which is my iPod Touch and my iPad 3.

Documents

Yesterday, I forgot to take my documents, and today I forgot to take my documents too.
