I had a rough week. Oh it was difficult. The very first time my wife was at home only to sleep at nights.
She was leaving to work at 6 am and coming back at 10…11 pm.
she’s an illustrator, but by day she’s a designer / content creator at Nestle, the food company.
I’ve been with kids, and for some reason I cannot get used to this attention-sucking ability of them. I’m feeling stack-overflowed all the time. Maybe it’s being a man (in contrast to being a woman), and it’s just for all of us. Maybe it’s my ADHD —
if I have one, have no idea: I was never properly diagnosed, yet according to many things I know about it, I clearly have many attention-related issues.
Maybe it’s just what kids do to adults. They exhaust me more than literally any job. Not that my wife helps a lot these days — she works more hours than me these days, trying to catch up with the industry — but she helps a lot with distracting them from constantly attacking my attention, so I can get some breaks here and there.
Having a constantly overflowed state is too tiresome. Within an hour I’m starting to be unberably slow, even for myself. It feels like a super-slow computer that got too hot and throttles.
Yesterday, we had a sudden change of plans. We planned to visit some relatives of hers, some distant uncle was celebrating his 60th years, and they threw a party. Normally, we don’t like such events, but considering our harsh routines these days (packed with kids-kids-kids-everything-kids), it’s some distraction, and so I even enjoy them. For the sake of other people, some company, even considering it’s a very specific kind of event, especially for me, an outsider.
I believe Belarus and Russia might have some similar style celebrations, only the drunk as hell there. Here, they rather eat tasty things all day long, and we call them ‘overeating parties.’ Or ‘обожралипсис’ in Ukrainian, as a mix of ‘apocalypse’ and ‘over-eating.’ Maybe I don’t understand this culture also because I was pretty much isolated from the society during my school years, so I’m somewhat alien to many things in the culture.
Weird that some other cultures feel like home to me, even despite I mostly not know them by practical experience. E.g. everything Scandinavian, it feels so ‘at home’ to me, that I’m thinking time and again, probably I should return to this idea of migrating there. If that’s not too late at my age. I thought of that ten to fifteen years ago.
