Starting yesterday’s morning, Hnat had been telling me that ‘tomorrow I won’t go to the kindergarten,’ meaning he’ll stay at home, playing.
It breaks my heart, as it involves some guilt. I’ll write about it another time.
My reply was ‘well, we’ll see when the time comes,’ because actually it’s true. Since we had just another air raid alert this morning, for a couple of hours, right before our time to leave home, it all is just unpredictable these days. Each day is different, and we just adjust.
This morning, Hnat was at this again. There was no ending siren yet, so I replied once again that we’ll see, let’s get busy with what is on the table already. The next time he mentioned he won’t go to his nursery school —
his sister has day-off on Tuesdays, she has her speech therapy in the mornings, at the time she visits kindergarten. (She’s on the therapy right now, and I’m waiting for her, I have 20 more minutes.)
Here I tell him, well, what if we’d go by bikes once again? He was very enthusiastic about it!
And so, we went on our bikes. I’ve seen locals watching us — and especially me, as a very strange guy — and I’d been thinking, why oh why is it so unusual in here? The weather is very nice today, it’s much warmer than yesterday, and the sun is shining, basically it’s the early Spring already!
And this bike ride, it just highlights this moment.
I enjoed the ride so much, I think we’ll start practicing it on Tuesdays, when Nadia stays at home and it’s just the two of us to go. Also, I think we can ride back from the school too, so good it is. As a very nice bonus, it takes much less time. And effort too, riding bike is easier than walking, especially if the distance is long.
And here is the hill Hnat loves to ride from, it’s tiny. Yet, it’s right his size.
