Today I finished my work later than planned, about 40 minutes later. So I was late to take Hnat from his Kindergarten. Last moment, I decided to go by bike. Usually, it takes me about 15 minutes by foot to reach the place, so I decided that way I’m being almost an hour late. So I took the bike. A bike ride is about 3 to 5 minutes, due to the way lying downhill.
Hnat has his balance bike. Since the way back is uphill, he’s hysterical that he has no resources to go. Hinting it’s me who should drag him. More than that, today he wanted to go on my bike, not his. If I’m on a bike to take kids from the Kdg, both love to be on it on our way back. As they’re always apart (Nadia visits till midday), it’s not an issue. I love riding them on my bike.
However, when Hnat has his bike, he does not want to go on mine. He wants me to be on my bike. So I hoped against hope, we’d go like that today, and that was another argument why bother taking bike.
Probably it was different today, due to him eating only his lunch in the Kdg, skipping the first meal, and the last one too. So, he was angry and irritated.
I succeeded with switching him to us biking in the forest, and downhill too. There, in the forest, he has a tiny hill he loves to ride off. So, I told him let’s go there and bike from it together! ‘Yeah!’ he was very enthusiastic immediately, so much he forgot we were rolling uphill.
I enjoyed our ride, it was my first time biking with the kid like that. He drove his bike the whole way, as much as I did. We reached home much quicker than usually, also with an extra fun.
On a separate note, locals don’t understand how is it, biking in the winter. Honestly, I cannot get it. There’s no snow, the road is dry and pretty clean. In the spring and autumn, most of the streets would be a greasy mess, so it will be much less fun. Yes, it’s cold today — 2 ºC — but so what? You’re getting even warmer on the bike, as compared to just a walk.
